Crop your images into custom shapes

The next time your PowerPoint images need a little extra style, consider cropping them into custom shapes. With a variety of shapes to choose from, these creative touches can help your slideshow stand out, and you can add them in a few quick clicks.

Watch the video below to see this process step-by-step.

Steps

  1. Click on the image that you want to crop.
  2. Go to the Format tab in the PowerPoint ribbon, and click on the Crop drop-down arrow.
  3. Then hover over Crop to Shape. Choose the shape you want to crop to, such as oval, rectangle, or triangle.
  1. Adjust the shape if needed by clicking and dragging the crop handles.
  2. Click away from the image to see the results of your crop.
  3. Repeat the process for any additional images that you want to crop with custom shapes.

Just remember to use custom shapes sparingly! While they can definitely add some pizzazz to your slides, keeping it simple will help your audience to focus on the key content in your presentation.
